What I pack for the beach

The Beach

As I live right next to the beach in Bundeena we can end up at the beach on any given day. I have to admit though, I am not a beach person. I hate cold water, sand and the sun on my skin. I also have to be super prepared otherwise I won’t enjoy myself.

So how does one manage when you have a six year old and a boyfriend who love the beach and want to go all the time?

Well, I always have a beach bag ready to go at all times that contains everything I need. So what kind of bag do I pack and what goes in it? Below is a rundown.

Bag: Sunnylife Carry-all ┬áThis is the ultimate beach bag. Not only can you fit everything in, but you can clean it with a damp sponge when it gets dirty. You could even hose it out. I’ve seen some people use it as an ice bucket!

Swimwear: I always have my short sleeve wetsuit packed. Even in the middle of summer as I hate cold water. By wearing my suit I’m always warm and there will be no whinging from me. I also wear a swimsuit underneath for when I do have to sit on the beach or if I get too hot.

Beach Towel: The Sunnylife Fouta Towel is currently my favourite. This towel is lightweight and the sand just falls off it. Did I say how much I hated sand?

Drink flask: I bring along my Travino glitter stemless insulated drink cup if I am taking a glass of wine as everyone else is drinking beer. This way if we decide to have a drink mine stays ice cold for hours.

Drink bottle: I also bring along a glass water bottle with sparkling water in it. I don’t really drink still water, so having sparkling available means I’ll drink it and I won’t get dehydrated.

Cover up: I always wear a beach cover up as well as carry a sarong. I hate the sun on my skin and would rather cover up than wear sunscreen.

Wide brim hat: An essential!

Beach chair and pillow: I have a low beach chair which I take as I get uncomfortable sitting on the ground for long periods of time. I also have a beach pillow for if I want to lie down.

Snacks: Lastly I pack a few snacks in a Tupperware container as there is nothing worse than being at the beach and being hungry!

So how do I carry all this stuff? Well I have a little beach trolley that I pull along if I need to. But being around the corner from the beach I don’t have to carry it too far.
